7 Islands of History and Nature

We recommend an overnight visit the day before your cruise in Cefalu which is 75 Km. East of Palermo on the Island of Sicily. Cefalu is a scenic historic town with a port and a beautiful long beach. One of the great undiscovered jewels of the Mediterranean. Enjoy an evening stroll through the historic old town, where you can start shopping for some nice Sicilian pottery, crafts and souvenirs, or enjoy a cool drink in one of Piazza’s. You can choose a waterfront restaurant or a cosy “ Trattoria or Pizzeria” inside the alleys of the old town for your dinner ashore.

SEVEN DAY ITINERARY

DAY 1
Join your yacht at midday [12.o'clock] in Cefalu’ harbour. After a welcome aboard lunch and meeting your crew, they will go through a safety briefing and have a discussion about the suggested itinerary for your weeks cruise. The first sail is to Salina, approximately 5-6 hours bringing you in to the heart of the Aeolian Islands. Although long it is usually a comfortable reach across calm seas. Should the weather be rough then you can take the hydrofoil and meet the yacht in Salina. Some the group may chose to take the fast ferry while some go for a long brisk sail. Enjoy a delicious meal ashore at one the local waterfront restaurants. Take an early evening stroll along the waterfront shores viewing the quant little houses surrounded by the green heather and the fuchsia of the bougainvilleas

DAY 2
After breakfast a short sail to Filicudi to swim and visit “la Canna”. You will feel the starting of your cruise with the colors of the Tyrrhenian and may be some dolphin jumping in front of the bow while sailing through the Aeolian Island. Feast on a gorgeous seafood dinner or Sicilian meal on board in a calm tranquil bay. Finishing the evening lying on the trampolines and counting the shooting stars, making a wish on each one you see.

DAY 3
After breakfast a short sail to Panarea to snorkel at “Cala Iunco”; this is one of the most famous cove in the Eolian, a must to visit. Then on to “Basiluzzo” for lunch and enjoy more spectacular snorkelling in the turquoise waters, around the submerged volcanic rocks. In the afternoon take a walk inside the little village of Basiluzzo with the typical Italian white Eolian houses and enjoy some shopping at the local craft stores. Relax and enjoy an aperitif ashore before coming back to the boat for dinner in true Italian style. After that if you like nightlife you can go dancing in the famous discothèque above the harbour.

DAY 4
A morning sail can take you to Stromboli and then Strombolicchio .The volcano is still very active and if the weather permits, we can anchor overnight seeing the spectacular red lava coming down from the top. The town and the black beaches are also a must to see and experience. If weather does not permit a comfortable overnight stop, a quick afternoon sailing will bring you to Lipari. Take a tour of the beautiful Island of Lipari, either by taxi or scooter late afternoon. Indulge in an unforgettable dinner with lots of typical Aeolian dishes with local swordfish, eggplants, capers, cherry tomatoes and cheese are the basic ingredients. Finally one or more glasses of “Malvasia” the local dessert wine will make

DAY 5
Enjoy breakfast over looking the turquoise waters at “La Pomice “and the “Spiaggia bianca”(white beach) - truly one of the most interesting place in the Eolian. Go windsurfing, snorkelling, and hiking on the pumice slopes. After lunch take a sail to the south end of the island looking at Vulcano, a calm anchorage and not too far from the main harbour.

DAY 6
In the morning a short sail to “Vulcano” enjoy a quick swim at the “Sabbie nere” (black beaches) with their hot waters. After an early lunch sail back to Cefalu, arriving early evening for dinner ashore reminiscing over your cruise through Sicily in true Italian style

DAY 7
After breakfast there is always time for some last shopping, or a last swim before departing for return trip home. We can offer longer cruises and different cruising grounds such as the Egadi Islands and circumnavigating Sicily, please let us know us know if you would like information on these two other cruising grounds.
